The selection of diesel generator sets is directly related to whether the unit can operate economically and reliably. According to different loads, the following points should be noted in the selection.

1. Confirmation of load type

It should first be confirmed whether the load is lighting, power, or mixed load. Lighting load mainly considers rated power, while power load should fully consider starting current.

2. Motor starting

The starting current of the motor is relatively large, so the selection should ensure that the unit has sufficient starting capability. Soft start or variable frequency start should be used when necessary.

3. Load rate

The unit running at a low load rate for a long time is not only economically poor, but also prone to carbon deposits. The general load rate should be maintained between 60% and 80%.

4. Standby power and prime power

When selecting, it should be clear whether the unit is used as a prime power source or a standby power source. The standby unit can be selected according to standby power, while the prime power unit should be selected according to prime power.
